PLEASE, DON'T GO!!!

News outlets are reporting that Pete Carroll might leave the Trojans for the Seatle Seahawks. I hope that this isn't true (these rumors are an annual tradition after all). He won't get the patience, love, stability or longevity that he's sure to have at USC from any NFL team.

Stafon Johnson

Stafon Johnson, the Trojans workhorse running back, dropped over 200 pounds onto his neck yesterday while lifting weights. This freak accident crushed his throat and required him going into emergency surgery. He is doing OK right now, according to various news sources. The doctors are saying he should recover fully, although there is not yet any time table for recovery. I'm sure he's not going to play any more football this season, but I hope this isn't the end of his playing days. I can see Stafon as a really good feature back in the NFL someday, so I really hope that this accident didn't derail his career and the millions of dollars that were sure to come with it. I am just glad he is OK and should be able to speak again. Keep him in your thoughts through this crazy circumstance.

Barkley's The Starter?

FIRST EVER freshman quarterback to start opener for USC! Wow, he has a lot to live up to. There are currently 3 NFL starting quarterbacks that have played for the Trojans the last several years: Palmer, Cassel, and Sanchez along with some pretty good back-ups in the case of Leinart and Booty. Speaking of which, USC is taking over the NFL. Fight On! Anyway, word is Barkley is very good but is a little loose with the ball, i.e. interceptions. I hope he works on his decision making and doesn't cost us any games with the gunslinger mentality turned too high.

USC Quarterback Mark Sanchez has declared for the upcoming NFL draft. Some team is gonna get one pretty good pro-style QB. I'm a little disapointed that hes not staying for his senior season but it's somebody elses turn to tear up the college game from the Trojans now. USC will still be right in the mix for a national title and another Trojan will be in the Pros. It seems like they're taking over the NFL. FIGHT ON!!!

The Denver Broncos have fired Mike Shanahan, and tanning salons throughout the Mile High city are fearfull that they may have to close for good due to the departure of one of the most Orange hued people around. Read about it here.

This is Barry Sanders son and namesake as a high school freshmen playing in the Oklahoma State HS Football Playoffs.

Not Enough

Dominating cross town rival UCLA is not gonna be enough to vault the Trojans to #2 and a chance at the BCS Championship. The stars needed to align and Oklahoma and Florida needed to lose and since none of that happened they'll be playing Penn State in the Rose Bowl. They didn't get enough love from the voters this year for their best in the country defense. We need a PLAYOFF!!! USC could have as many as four championships this decade if there was a playoff. Still the best team of this century though. Make the playoff happen, I'm tired of this shit.

Am I the only one that sees the connection?

Giants Reciever Steve Smith was robbed at gunpoint Nov. 25th.

Giants Reciever Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg Nov. 29th.

I haven't seen or heard any connections being made between these two instances but to me it's obvious there should be. With the type of situations that have involved athletes the last few years it makes me think I'd carry too. Darrent Williams shot and killed. Sean Taylor shot and killed. Plaxico was stupid for a number of reasons: 1. safety off, 2. gun loose in waistband, 3. no armed security with him. It's unfortunate that people in positions of success have been victimized because of it. If you look at Burress' situation and that of T.I. also it makes you see why they were carrying weapons. I mean is it better to decide to live your life and carry protection or abandon your life and live secluded and paranoid? I would probably choose the first option also. But dude broke the law and got caught so now he is gonna end up paying both in lost income and lost freedom.

Disrespect?

USC plans on wearing their HOME jerseys to play at UCLA's Rose Bowl this week. Is this Disrespect for their cross-town rivals? You Decide.

Ron Mexico

Mike Vick should not be in prison. That's just my personal opinion, I think that many of the people that are against this man are hypocritical and looking to hang a pro athlete to prove their point. I hope that he is able to get out of jail and return to his life (except for the dogfighting). He lost more than $100,000,000 on this stuff, think about how ridiculous that number is. Anyway their are plenty of worse things than dog fighting. I wonder if any of these people that are up in arms about this are hunters, or own a chicken farm, or a slaughterhouse, or support horse racing. Makes you think. I would support the 49ers (my favourite pro team) signing him to a contract. I think it'd be worth the risk.

Still a chance

No. 1 Texas Tech just lost big, so hopefully that'll give USC a chance to move up the polls. Its time for these voting fuckers to wake up and give the Trojans the respect they deserve. Since thier lone loss they have dominated every team they have played. Their defense is the best in the country and their aren't any teams that can handle the running game when its on. Lets also not forget the complete domination of their two non-conference games so far, one of which was the beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. All we need is to move up to number two and USC should have a championship. Until their is a playoff we have to deal with this bullshit. Now they just need to finish off the season strong and hope for the best.

Carroll has come close to doing just that. And in the bizarro world of the BCS, it’s killing him.
Not on the field, where his latest powerhouse team is 7-1 and just outscored its last five opponents 214-20.
In the BCS standings though, SC’s recruiting dominance has left its conference in shambles, one strength-of-schedule-sinking opponent after the next. Saturday’s 56-0 destruction of Washington somehow caused the Trojans to drop from No. 5 to No. 7.
“The more we win, the worse we get,” Carroll joked to reporters Sunday.
The more Carroll recruits, the worse everyone gets. These Pac-10 opponents are lousy for a reason. Half their starters are sitting on the Trojans’ bench.
While greed at times can be a fine thing for the greedy, it also can produce unintended negative consequences. For Carroll it’s this: he has run the nation’s best program for a while but has just one BCS title to show for it.
The reason is the system’s computers hate him. They may like Karl Marx, though, or at least a good old-fashioned mercy rule.

There are few topics in America that generate such widespread support as the abolishment of the BCS. Other than four conference commissioners, few favor the current foolishness over a playoff.

The anti-BCS people are passionate, too. They have detailed plans, websites and emotional anger due to past disasters. Go ask a Southern California fan about 2003. They’d march on Washington if they thought it would help."

"Look, dealing with war and rebuilding the economy, those are difficult challenges. This is simple. It could be resolved in a week.
